Synchro Swim Star: Marie Hoff

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Marie Hoff, a sophomore in the School of Education, is making waves as the President of the Boston University Synchronized Swimming Team.

From Boxborough, Massachusetts, Marie spontaneously decided to join the synchronized swimming team at the start of her Freshman year. She wanted to find an athletic organization to keep her active, meet new people, and challenge herself by trying something new.

The Boston University Synchronized Swimming Team, led by an expert coaching staff, welcomed Marie and many other beginners to the team, promising to teach them an exciting new sport.

Prior to joining the team, Marie had limited knowledge of the synchronized swimming but had extensive experience swimming competitively. Eager to learn more and try new things, Marie’s swimming background allowed her to quickly understand the sport’s many complicated movements and develop the difficult skills necessary to compete at the collegiate level.

Since joining the team as an excited freshman, Marie has blossomed into one of the Boston University’s leading synchronized swimming competitors. She plans to compete with the team throughout her collegiate career, describing it as her “favorite team she has ever been on, and that is saying a lot!”

She says she “loves the girls, the coaches, and the sport,” citing her teammates as her family of friends. She looks forwards to continuing to improve her skills, perform well in competition, and teach new swimmers to love the sport as she has.
