5 Places to Consider For Your Summer Travels

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

If you are looking for a place to travel this summer, look no further. There are cities all across the United States that are perfect for a weekend getaway or an impromptu road trip with your friends. Here are just a few:

1. Las Vegas

If you are 21 or older and are looking for a place to celebrate with a large group of friends, Vegas is the way to do it. Whether you are spending time walking up and down the strip, standing in front of the Bellagio fountains in awe, enjoying a delicious romantic dinner in the Venetian hotel, going shopping, or exploring the nightlife and casinos, you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for a day trip out of Vegas, hike in and out of the breathtaking Grand Canyon for a day.

2. Atlantic City

With the best boardwalk in the United States according to National Geographic, Atlantic City is perfect for a summer weekend. Bring your sandals, bathing suit, and some money to spend if you want to hit the slot machines with your friends. If you live too far from the Jersey shore, check out some other beautiful beaches, including Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY, Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, or the Ocean City Boardwalk in Maryland.

3. Bonaroo: June 11-14

One of the largest music festivals every summer with attendees from all over the country and world, Bonaroo is an incredible experience that any music-lover would not want to miss. The line up includes top artists such as Billy Joel, Mumford and Sons, Childish Gambino, Florence and Machine, Ben Folds, Hozier, and much more. If the music ever gets boring (but why would this happen), the festival includes other activities as well such as the silent disco, art exhibits, a comedy theatre, a cinema, yoga classes, a splash zone, food trucks, and cafes.

4. Firefly: June 18-21

If Bonaroo is just too far or too expensive for you, try something on the east coast. In Delaware, Firefly is another music festival with an incredible line up including artists such as Paul McCartney, Kings of Leon, Empire of the Sun, Hozier (again), The Killers, Foster the People, Modest Mouse, and Bastile. If you need to get away from the music for a while, there are other activities such as buying and designing your own pair of Toms shoes, attending the beercade, checking out “the pathway” that is lit up at night, or chilling out in the “hammock hangout” area.

5. Boston: July 4th

Around July, after spending time at home for over a month, you may want a chance to breathe by returning to Boston for a reunion with your friends. On July fourth, the Boston Pops have a huge concert on the Charles River. Just bring a blanket, snacks, and a frisbee, and settle in on the esplanade for the day with your friends until the sky is lit up at night with fireworks.
