Campus Celebrity– Chad Ward

Chad Ward, a junior from Delray Beach, Florida, exemplifies what it means to be a student athlete. On and off the field, Chad prioritizes what’s most important in his life. Not only does this dedicated football player have a love for the game, but aspires to have his own TV show, which is why Chad is a communications major with a minor in business management. Chad wears number 8, plays wide receiver and has recently been named NEC Offensive Player of the Week and ECAC Player of the Week. Both of these titles are great honors and Chad truly deserves them. Chad has worked extremely hard to get to where he is in his football career today, and he doesn’t intend on stopping anytime soon.

HC: Why did you chose to come to Bryant?

CW: I based my decision off of where I received scholarships to play football. Originally, I didn’t intend on coming to Bryant, and had a couple of offers from other schools. When I did decided to visit Bryant, and consider it as one of my options, I really liked it.

HC: Do you have a favorite football memory at Bryant?

CW: Yes, and recently too. In Bryant’s homecoming game against UMaine last week, Bryant won 13-10 over No. 20 Maine. I scored the winning touchdown with just 2 minutes remaining, and it will always be a highlight of my career here at Bryant.

HC: What inspired you to start playing football?

CW: My mom always pushed me to do my best, and has been the most supportive person in my life. She is the real reason why I started playing football.

HC: What are some of your other aspirations besides playing football?

CW: One day I plan on having my own TV show that focuses on talking to athletes about the journey they took to get to where they are. Everyone has such a different and unique story which really interests me.

HC: What would you like to accomplish before you leave Bryant?

CW: As in terms of football, I would love to be named All American. At Bryant in general, I plan on making more friends.

HC: If you could meet someone famous, who would it be and why?

CW: If I had to meet one person it would be Will Smith. Will Smith is extremely successful and displays how you need to have the drive to become better every day.

HC: Is there anyone you would like to thank for your success today?

CW: I would like to thank my high school football coach “Hammer,” and my 5th grade teacher. My teacher always said, “Never let your anger derail you from your dreams” and that is a quote that has stuck with me through the years.

HC: How do you balance school, football and your personal life?

CW: The main thing for me is about finding time to do a little bit of everything. If I know I have homework or studying to do, I find a quiet place to go, or use my study hall time wisely.

HC: What will you miss most about Bryant?

CW: I will definitely miss the social aspect of Bryant the most. The people I’ve met and the friends I have made are priceless. And of course I will miss playing in games on Saturdays!

HC: Plans after graduation?

CW: As for after I graduate, I would love to continue my football career, whatever that may be. And if not, I will pursue my dream of having my own TV show.

HC: How would you like people to remember you by?

CW: In three words, I would like people to remember me by being kind, loving, and passionate.
