Name, Year, Major and Hometown:
Alisheya “Ali” Luthman, Class of 2014, Marketing and Sociology, Worcester, MA
Her Campus: Congratulations! Are you excited to give the Student Charge at Graduation in a few weeks?
Ali: Thank you so much! I am SO excited! Maybe a little nervous, but who wouldn’t be speaking in front of so many people. It is truly an honor to address my peers and classmates. I have been working on the speech for about four months before it was chosen. I am also excited because my parents have NO idea I am giving it, and it will be a big surprise the day of!
HC: What made you want to speak at Graduation?
Ali: I wanted to be able to give back one more time to Bryant, because it has given so much to me. I also really wanted to remind everyone how amazing the graduating class of 2014 is, and how many amazing things we are going to do as people. I have wanted to do the charge since freshman year when I heard it while volunteering, because I knew I would be able to connect and motivate everyone in the room. I honestly wasn’t expecting to receive such an honor, but I am ready!
HC: What advice do you have for the rising juniors who are about to be seniors?
Ali: Obviously there are going to be good and bad days, but don’t wake up and say “I should (or shouldn’t!) have done that…” . Don’t live with regrets, and use senior year as a chance to becoming the person you want to be. Remember to thank your parents/ people who helped you get where you are in life. If an opportunity presents itself, run with it (WHATEVER it may be…like going to Rentes on a Monday, because why not?). Don’t focus on the end, focus on your friends, and the memories you will continue to make. Oh, and don’t buy text books, I didn’t, no need for them. Find the free versions, borrow them, go to the library. Use that for food and other activities!
HC: What are your plans for the future?
Ali: Right now I am interviewing for positions as an Event Coordinator at a couple of places. I have my hopes set for working in the events industry. My current office here at Bryant also said I can always stay with them after I graduate!
