Summer Storage Options

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

There are exactly twenty-three days left until we get kicked out of our dorms for the summer.  Yup, less than a month before we have to move out.  For those of us that don’t live within a day’s drive of Brandeis, moving out can be kind of stressful.  Where do you put all your stuff? Do you ship it home, do you throw it out, or do you store it?  Here’s your guide to the best summer storage options.

Your Friend’s Basement

A lot of Brandeisians live within a few hours of campus by car.  Take advantage and ask a close friend or your roommate for next year if they can take a few things for the summer.   Economically, this is definitely your best bet.

Storage Company

Alas, not all of us have a friend that we can dump all of our stuff on.  So the next best option is probably storing your stuff through a storage company.  If you live really far away, you probably don’t have a car at school, so getting to an off campus storage location can be tricky.  Luckily there are storage companies just for college students.  What’s great about these companies is that they often pick up and deliver your items right to your dorm.  Some even provide free packing materials!  Take a look these three companies to find which one is best for you:

Shipping Stuff Home

I would not recommend this option unless absolutely necessary.  Storing your stuff this way is the least practical option (you have to lug your stuff back next semester!) and by far the most expensive.

School Storage

Brandeis does offer some storage to its students.  However this space is exclusively for international students and is highly limited.  Click here for more info.
