Boston-Haifa Connection’s Hatikvah Officers Mission

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

For many people who have not had the chance to visit Israel, the only information they know about the country is through the media. The Boston-Haifa Connection, a committee sponsored by the Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP), wants to expand the greater Boston area’s knowledge about Israel by bringing 12 Israeli officers to Boston at the end of the month. This unique event will allow the Israeli officers to meet with college students, state legislators, community leaders, and even Governor Deval Patrick.

The program, which is in its third year, is the Boston-Haifa Connection’s spotlight event called the Hatikvah Mission. The officers will be in town during Yom Hashoa, Holocaust Remembrance Day, and will be attending a community wide event that will take place at Faneuil Hall on April 29th from 10:30-12:30 p.m. This is a rare opportunity to hear the soldier’s stories and to learn more about Israel. For more information, visit the CJP’s website.

Andrea is a sociology major with minors in journalism and women's and gender studies. She is currently finishing her senior year at Brandeis University. She was born and reared in Los Angeles, CA, which does mean that she is a die-hard Laker fan… Sorry Bostonians. When Andrea is not routing on her favorite basketball team, she dedicates her time to her many passions. They include reading and writing about fashion, traveling, exploring new restaurants, spending time with friends, watching reality television (she has a weak spot for Bravo), shopping, and working out.
