With just two weeks of classes left until finals, we can finally say that the end of the school year is amongst us and soon we’ll be heading home for the summer. However, we’re not quite ready to wrap up the year until one big event takes place and that event is Binghamton’s Annual Spring Fling. Spring Fling is taking place this Saturday, May 3rd and will feature musical performances from headliners Matt and Kim, carnival rides and games, and the campus community gathering together to enjoy what will be a (hopefully) sunny day filled with fun. As a transfer student I am so excited to experience my very first Spring Fling and I must admit, I have pretty high expectations. Here’s what I hope to experience on Saturday:

Nice Weather- With May starting this Thursday, I am pretty disappointed that in the past few days when I check the weather in the morning, it’s still in the 30s. I’m ready for warm weather and sunshine and I know I’m not the only one who is hoping for a sunny, warm day on Saturday. Can we really call it Spring Fling if it’s going to be chilly and gross outside?

2. My friends- This weekend is the last weekend where students can actually enjoy spending time with each other and just relaxing since the weekend after will bring us all to Bartle and studying for finals. I’m excited to spend the day at Spring Fling with my friends before the craziness of final exams kicks in and we all part ways to go home for the summer.

3. Good music- I’m not too familiar with Matt and Kim but I’m looking forward to seeing them play on Saturday. Other performances will be given by the winner of the Battle of the Band’s Competition, 3LAU, Joey Bada$$, and RDGLDGRN. One of the best parts of spring festivals at colleges are the musical acts that are being booked, and I hope to see an amazing performance put on by all of these acts.

4. A memorable day- Spring Fling is a Binghamton University tradition and a student favorite each spring and I’m excited to spend a day doing all of the fun things that everyone loves about Spring Fling. Most importantly I’m excited to spend the day with my best friends and enjoy the last fun weekend to top off what has been an amazing first year at Binghamton.
