What Your Sweatpants Style Says About You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Some days, you just really need to wear sweatpants. They may not be part of the “BC Girl Uniform,” but that shouldn’t stop you from doing what you want. Here are some options of what sweatpants to rock, and what that might suggest about you.

1. Yoga Pants

If your go-to sweatpants are yoga pants, you’re probably a pretty put-together person. Yoga pants are perfectly ambiguous, because maybe you’re going to the gym, maybe you’re not. No one will ever have to know. Yoga pants are comfy, yet socially acceptable, so they’re basically as close to Heaven as you can get.

2. Leggings

Leggings are another great compromise between looking good and feeling great. You can pair them with a sweater or a sweatshirt, and it’ll look just as good. Just make sure you splurge on a good pair, because there’s nothing worse than walking to class one day and realizing your leggings are see through. Speaking for a friend, of course, because something that embarrassing would never happen to me…

3. Comfy Cotton Pants

Depending on style, these are edging towards the lazy side. These pants are great for hanging around the house, but maybe every now and then they sneak out into public. Don’t worry though, matching these with a cute top can totally take it from sloppy to chic.

4. Sweatpants

Sweatpants: a necessity for finals, exams, or just one of those days. Sometimes you just need to rock the sweatpants. They’re warm and snuggly, even if they make you look like a slob. Just opt for a stain-free, recently washed pair, and you can probably get away with just a little scoff from the fashion police.

5. Oversized Sweatpants

Honestly, you’re just straight up doing you right now. And I respect that. Wearing oversized sweatpants in public means that you just really don’t care what people have to say today, and you’re just going to be comfy. Go you.

No matter which sweatpants you pick, make sure you’re making yourself happy. Confidence says a lot more than any type of pants could, so as long as you’re comfortable, keep doing what you’re doing.
