True Life: I Don’t Like Chocolate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

You probably gasped after reading the title of this piece and are now looking for the signature “This piece is meant to be satirical” disclaimer we often put at the beginning of a piece of satire, but let me tell you now that you will find no such disclaimer for this article. I know there is some saying that goes something like “Chocolate is a girl’s best friend,” but that simply is not the case for me. Rather than never having met a chocolate I didn’t like, it’s usually rare for me to find a chocolate I DO like.

As a kid I picked the chocolate chips out of cookies and would only eat the cookie part. My mom soon caught on and began making what would become my favorite cookie: chocolate chip-less chocolate chip cookies. The name needs a bit of work, but you get the picture. Don’t even try to tell me that they are sugar cookies because I have had this debate many times and they are SO different. Even Tate’s cookies has caught on to this and made their own version of this cookie.

Now I cannot say that I hate all chocolate because that would be lying. I am definitely guilty of sneaking the occasional Reese’s and holiday M&Ms from time to time but for the most part, I rarely crave chocolate. I don’t know if I was born with this missing piece from my brain that as a female I am suppose to constantly be craving chocolate, but it just does not seem to be there.

Sometimes I do wish I had this love for chocolate because drowning my sorrows in a pint of chocolate ice cream just sounds so right but alas, I’d have to settle for vanilla (not nearly as emotionally fitting).

So heads up to my future husband if you are reading this, chocolate is not the way to my heart but flowers and jewelry are still safe bets!

The only kind of box of chocolates I would want would be this one:
