Ever since I spent three glorious months in London studying abroad, there have been two words that will send me into a guaranteed fit of excitement every time: afternoon tea. I just can’t seem to think of a better way to spend your afternoon hours than dressed up and with a scone, some clotted cream, jam, and a cup of English Breakfast. Not to mention the perfectly small tea sandwiches and the dainty desserts.  In London, finding a place to have tea was as simple as spotting a double decker bus. Here? It’s about as easy as spotting Harry Styles. (Okay well given that despite the few hours I spent lurking in his neighborhood I still never saw him, I guess finding tea in Boston is a little easier.)

So if you’re like me and want to pretend you’re a member of the British Royal Family, or just really like tea and scones, here are some places in Boston to get your tea fix!

The Bristol Lounge at the Four Seasons

They serve tea only on the weekends, from 1:00pm-4:00pm. The tearoom overlooks the Public Gardens, and a friend may or may not have spotted JT while dining…If that isn’t incentive enough, I don’t know what is.

Courtyard Room at the Boston Public Library

This tea is served during the week from Wednesday through Friday between 2pm and 4pm, and the room overlooks the beautiful courtyard of the library. Plus, the BPL is one of the most beautiful places in Boston, and you can tell everyone you spent the day in the library.

Rowes Warf Sea Grille

This tea, although a bit farther from us, is served daily from 2:30pm-4pm. It has a beautiful view that overlooks the waterfront.

Your Room at Boston College

Although I love getting out in the city, I think this one is my favorite. Hit up the grocery store and make your own sandwiches and scones! It might take more time, but you’ll save a lot of money, improve your culinary skills, and get to share the experience with your friends!
