We usually tend to ignore our rival school located just down Commonwealth Avenue, but the truth is that they are doing some pretty awesome things. Morgan Perry, a member of Her Campus BU, reached out to us about an inner-collegiate competition being held at BU in a couple of weeks.
The competition, called “Innovate Possible,” is the first ever intercollegiate challenge inviting students from Boston-area schools to work together towards a common goal. Sponsored by AT&T, it is a fantastic opportunity to connect and exchange ideas with some of the brightest students in the Boston area. Not to mention, it is a great networking event as industry professionals, local startups, and college professors will all be in attendance.
At this point, you are probably wondering what the competition consists of. Well, during the challenge portion of the event, students will be presented with a social problem facing today’s society. Teams of four will work together to create a viable solution using real and/or imagined technologies. The teams will then present their plan to a panel of judges. The judges score each team on the following factors:
- Innovation
- Creativity
- Use of technology
- Utility/feasibility
- Pitch skills
Once the challenge portion comes to an end, the winning team will be announced and awarded the grand prize of four tablets! Students will also be invited to join the judges, industry professionals and business representatives for a networking and career opportunity session.
“Innovate Schedule” is set to take place Saturday, April 19th from 11am-3pm at BU. The official schedule for the day is as follows:
11am-12pm: Light brunch and registration
12pm-1pm: Social challenge with team
1pm-2pm: Team presentations to judges
2pm-3pm: Networking & career session
If you are interested in competing (and proving that it really DOES suck to BU!), then follow @ATT_InnoBoston on Facebook and Twitter to stay up-to-date about the competition and registration. For more information about the competition, visit innovatepossible.com.
We hope to see you there!
