Dear Mini-Me,

While college seems to be an infinite amount of time away from you,

Things will be Alright

If there was one thing I believed and listened to in the earlier years, it was this: everything will be alright. When you have bangs, braces, and think that turtlenecks are a good idea everyday, this idea might seem like a phenomena. The good news is that #transformationtuesdays are a real thing, and not only in the looks department. The world can be mean sometimes, but you must remind yourself that there is always something to smile about, and everything will be alright.

Family Over Everything

While we may have bickered over how my mysterious sweater walked into your closet, there is no r

elationship in my life more important than ours. While you might see me as your role model, you are my role model, You taught me to laugh harder, smile more, and enjoy life to its fullest and I can only wish that upon you. You will also learn that while parents might seem harsh sometimes, they only have our best interest at hand and love us unconditionally.

Friends Become Increasingly Important with Time

The standards you set for yourself should be the standards you set for others. Friends will disappoint you, but they are also the ones who you need in your life. They are your support system when you are away from home. These are the people that you can count on when you get a bad grade or the ones who will back you up for anything. As you get older, your peers and friends are the ones you look to for life (and fashion) advice and who will bring out the absolute best in you.

Don’t Cancel the Gym Membership

Before college, the idea of going to a gym seemed unnecessary because I was always active by playing sports. The moment you get to college and realize you are literally have any and everything in the dining hall without mom or dad saying no, you realize that going to the gym and learning how to workout by not playing a sport is probably important.

Be Happy

At the end of the day, all I wish for you is to be happy. While I will try to be the best role model I can be, I am going to screw up and let you down; you just have to understand I am human too.  All I really want for you is to be happy. There are so many things to be happy for and you shouldn’t ever take them for granted. You are my best friend and I will always want the best for you. I love you!

Love,

Your Big Sister
