31 Things to Do During Study Breaks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Note: This is meant to be satirical.

It’s that time of the year again. Well yes, it’s Christmas season, but it’s also the dreaded finals season. It’s that time where the library becomes more of a home than our dorm room, where coffee replaces water as the main liquid in our body, and where asking “how are finals going?” replaces the typical “hi, how are you?” across campus. Procrastinating from my own finals studying, I’ve made a list of 31 things to do on study breaks. Why 31 you ask? At this point, why not? It’s finals; anything goes. From relaxing to ridiculous to everything in between, check out my suggestions on how to make the most of your study breaks!

1.     Make a blog and hope someone cares enough to read it

2.     Bake cookies without burning down your dorm or setting off the fire alarm

3.     Facebook stalk the boy who you’ve been crushing on… who doesn’t know your name

4.     Call your mom and vent

5.     Call your dad and vent some more

6.     Try to beat 2048 for the thousandth time

7.     Get coffee…. then get more coffee, just to see Sorwar at Hillside

8.     Do jumping jacks, then cartwheels, then finish with a plank

9.     Read that Buzzfeed article about cute puppies

10.  Or read the headlines and try to seem informed

11.  Organize a flash mob dance party in the library

12.  Paint your nails, even though you’re going to peel the polish off

13.  Brainstorm your upcoming New Year’s resolutions

14.  Open your bank statement and try not to scream

15.  Write a to-do list, then rip it up aggressively and throw it out

16.  Take a nap… be a rebel and don’t set an alarm

17.  Apply for a random sweepstakes that chances are you won’t win

18.  Buy a chocolate bar… then eat it

19.  Serenade yourself with Michael Buble’s Christmas songs

20.  Plan your dream vacation, flight tickets and all

21.  Day-dream about the CSOM boy who will take you on this dream vacation

22.  Create a countdown until your exams are over

23.  Pray… that you survive this week

24.  Order Fins, Eagle’s, or Roggie’s and hope they deliver to the library

25.  Plan a themed-party for the weekend after winter break

26.  Raid the vending machine… the more calories, the better

27.  Go to the gym and people watch

28.  Have a glass of wine… I won’t judge

29.  Give yourself the ultimate pep talk

30.  Sing in the shower as long as you can

31.  SMILE. It’ll be over soon!

Blake is a senior at Boston College and is pursuing Biology and Pre-Med, as well as the perfect slice of pizza. She is so excited to be a co-Campus Correspondent along with Emily this year! As well as being a writer for Her Campus BC, she is also a member of the Girls Club Lacrosse team, the Public Health Club, and is a physics tutor on campus.
I am a Political Science major and Women's and Gender Studies minor at Boston College. I am an RA on campus and am involved in the Student Admissions Program. Since I am from Florida, I can legitimately say that I love long walks on the beach. I also love getting lost in a world fabricated by a novel, there is honestly nothing better.
