Why You Should Donate To Bates TODAY

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bates chapter.
Today marks the end of the month-long “It’s a Great Day to be a Bobcat” giving campaign, making alumni, parents and students anxious about whether or not Bates will secure a quarter-million-dollar challenge gift from a generous donor. Bates hasn’t reached its goal yet, but we have until midnight tonight! Here’s why you should donate to Bates TODAY:

1. The pressure is on.

Last year Bates had a goal of 2,500 donors during the month of March. We made it last year, but this year our goal has been bumped up to 4,000 donors. if you’ve already donated this year that’s great, but only donations in March count!

2. It’s about participation, not the dollar amount.

It’s not every day that we can turn a $1 donation into a $250,000 one for Bates. As broke college students, this is a good way to make a small donation go a LONG way.

3. You can designate where your money goes.

You can choose to have your money go where Bates needs it most, towards academic excellence, annual library purchases, Friends of Bates Athletics, residential life, scholarships, the arts and even towards the James Jhun ’16 Memorial Fund! Still not satisfied? No problem. Fill out exactly where you want your gift directed in the comment area.

4. The Bates community has worked REALLY hard this month to reach this goal, especially today.

You can tune in to watch a live stream of the process here! Students, faculty and staff have been camped out in the Ronj all day. A cappella groups are also on site providing musical performances. Shout-out to the Crosstones, Merimanders and Deansmen!

5. It’s ALWAYS a great day to be a Bobcat.

Sorry to be cheesy here but you know it’s true. Take part of the largest engagement and fundraising event at Bates by being one of 4,000 donors. Click here to donate!
