What made you interested in fashion?

I love planning my outfits and putting different pieces of clothing together for fun. I became interested in fashion because I liked to get dressed and look nice everyday. In high school, I started following fashion blogs religiously. My favorites are Fashiontoast and The Sartorialist, which each encompass street and personal style. I would always get inspired for my outfits and it kind of just took off from there.

Besides the blogs, who are your fashion and design inspirations?

Currently, my favorite designer/style icon is Valentino. A few years ago, I made a collection of clothes based on Sass and Bide and Dolce and Gabbana, two brands which I also admire. For my everyday clothes, I am most inspired by street style, which I usually find online.

How have you taken advantage of design opportunities on campus?

I have always been interested in costume design. Currently, I am involved in the costume design for the varsity show. I am excited to once again be part of a design process and a new team!

On my own time, I make quilts, pillows, and bags. Another one of my favorite hobbies is going to thrift stores and modifying the clothes I find to make them fit my style. I once found a polka-dotted nurse’s gown in a thrift store that I made into a crop top–I still wear it today.

What are three spring fashion essentials you can’t live without?

  1. J. crew jean jacket

  2. Skagen silver watch

  3. Leopard print loafers
