5 New Year’s Resolutions For Today’s Collegiette

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Augustana chapter.

The famous phrase “New Year, new me” is a typical expression used at the beginning of each year referring to all the new plans individuals want to accomplish throughout this new opportunity. This is why many goals exist for those collegiettes who want to make the most of this year. Here we share some ideas that you can take into consideration in order to enjoy 2017. Check them out!

1. Exercise more.

If you did not have time last year to set up a workout schedule, 2017 allows you the opportunity to do so. Believe it or not, exercising regularly reduces stress levels, plus it is a fun and healthy way to spend time with friends.

2. Obtain a leadership position on campus.

If you want to step away from the routine this year, a leadership position is the best for you. Considering jobs such as CA or member of a club’s executive board will not only develop important skills such as teamwork and responsibility, they will also improve the quality of your resume for post-college life such as graduate school or a job application.

3. Get at least 8 hours of sleep.

I know it is tempting to pull out an all-nighter in order to finish an important assignment on time. However, it is also important that you have enough resting hours in order to keep your productivity levels and body defenses high.

4. Avoid procrastination.

If you are one of those persons who prefer to start working on an assignment a day before it is due, 2017 gives you the opportunity to change that habit. You will not only prepare a high-quality assignment; plus you will have enough time to revise it and reach your professor if you have any doubt or concern about it.

5. Smile more

Without a happy life, you won’t be able to achieve these or any of goals you set for this year. Get out of your comfort zone, spend more time with your friends, pamper yourself every once in a while so that you are able to overcome anything that will block your happiness.
