Roxie Bardo may only be 19 years old but that hasn’t stopped her from being well on her way to becoming a music sensation. The Tennessee native has been performing since the age of 5 and owns Roxie Bardo Entertainment.  Roxie has written and composed all of her own music.  Her self-titled EP was released in May 2012 and earned her amazing reviews as well as Female Vocalist of The Year at the 2013 LA Music Awards.  Her latest single ‘Cinnamon’ is already receiving outstanding responses and is in a position to take off in 2015.   I was lucky enough to interview this rising star!  Check it out below.

What made you decide you wanted to be a singer?

R: I’ve always loved performing. I started singing to anyone who would listen when I was around the age of 5. I’ve always known I wanted to be a star but it wasn’t until I saw the movie version of Chicago that I really started visualizing and claiming my path.

What has been the hardest part about breaking into the industry?

R: I would say the biggest obstacle to overcome is people not taking you or your art seriously.  Whether it be music industry professionals or Twitter followers, I’m still facing adversity with regard to being seen as a professional recording artist.

What has been the most exciting part so far in beginning your music career?

R: The most exciting aspect so far is performing. There is nothing like expressing your soul to an audience. It’s a very vulnerable action but I feel like it I need it! I’m basing my career around telling people how I feel and it’s very freeing.

What made you decide on the song ‘Cinnamon’ as your breakout single?

R: Well, I’ve released quite a few singles over the last 2 years but ‘Cinnamon’ has been the biggest yet. I feel like it’s a beautiful track full of heartache but still has a driving beat that makes you feel powerful. I try very hard to find balance in my music and, thanks to help from my producer MikS, ‘Cinnamon’ was a sweet success.

What was it like to record and create your first music video?

R: It’s a very emotional experience and it’s similar to creating the track. The only difference being one is auditory and the other visual. While creating the theme for the video I had to envision the song. Really see the song instead of hear it. So of course the day of filming consists of a lot of worry and excitement!

Do you have any plans to break into a modeling career as well?

R: I do! I’ve recently been meeting with various agencies and if all goes well I should be starting down that road shortly.

What are your plans for your music career in the New Year?

R: I want to be on the radio, touring, and musically evolving. I want to be very successful in general so hopefully I will make leaps and bounds towards my goals this year!
