The Ultimate Fight: Why It’s Worth It via Chuck & Blair

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

Ahhh, Gossip Girl. If you’ve watched this thrilling, scheming series then you’ve most likely cried during both the scenes of Chuck and Blair together and Chuck and Blair apart.

Clair, Bluck, Chair – whatever you want to call them, are amazing apart but even more amazing together. Isn’t that how relationships should be?

A lot of times in relationships (and breakups) we think that fighting is a bad thing. And if it consumes your entire relationship then yeah, it is. But doesn’t a little bit of arguing and disagreement mean you’re passionate? Doesn’t it mean you aren’t afraid to stand up for yourself? If you are afraid to disagree with your significant other, aren’t you ultimately self-destructing anyway?

Some relationships are worth fighing for. Sometimes the person you love the most can also be the person you hate the most (The Notebook, hello). Sometimes the person who breaks your heart is the only one who can put it back together. Sometimes the person who challenges you and makes you question every single belief you’ve ever had is the same person who helps you grow, change, and mature the most.

Sometimes that love-hate relationship is worth it.  Here are a few times when Chuck and Blair reminded us of that.

There are two sides to every story. Relationships are a two-way street. You want it to work? Don’t be scared to make the moves.

Someone will always have to be the bigger person. Don’t give up or you’ll end up having to say sorry in the end… and who likes saying sorry? Not me.

If you keep running back, maybe you should eventually just stay.

Letting your guard down is necessary at times. Especially when you are about to get married to the wrong person. (The Notebook again, anyone?)

No matter the mistakes, the time, the signs, and everything in between – you don’t give up on people you love. Time helps the mind turn mistakes into lessons, sometimes it just takes the right person to make you realize that.

Without the person you love, something will always be missing in your life.

Just because it’s over doesn’t mean that it’s always over.

“You thrill me with just a look and I breathe only for you.” Tell us how you really feel, Chuck.

Chuck reminded us that sometimes you gotta kiss your pride goodbye and demand what you want.

And that there’s nothing quite like your first true love.

Chuck and Blair are a prime example of two strong, independenent people. And you know what they always say – two strong independent people will either tear each other apart or conquer the world together.

Why be ordinary apart when you can be extraordinary together?

Big thanks to Chuck and Blair for always reminding us the importance of fighting for what you want, and how okay it is to not be okay sometimes.
