Ryan Lochte Back In The Spotlight, What Now?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

Ryan Lochte can’t seem to stay out of the spot light these days after his Monday night debut on the 23rd season of Dancing With The Stars.

After preforming with his partner Cheryl Burke, Lochte was receiving feedback from judge Carrie Ann Inaba when the program was suddenly disrupted. Two-audience members stormed the dance floor, heading straight for Lochte before being taken out by security. Of course, none of the action was actually shown on television, but later released.

Other audience members shouted “liar” and wore anti-Lochte t-shirts before being asked to leave by Derek Hough. After cutting to a quick commercial break, DWTS host Tom Bergeron asked Lochte how he was feeling. “I’m a little hurt,” Lochte said.

Lochte decided to dance on DWTS this year after his dramatic summer in Rio. Lochte go into hot water after lying about being robbed at gunpoint in Rio during the 2016 Summer Olympics. Lochte said that he hopes being on DWTS helps reestablish trust with his fans, hoping they will give him a second chance.

After the short-lived incident, Burke and Lochte took to social media their feelings.

Cheryl Burke’s response:

And of course Lochte shared his reaction too:

According to CNN, other DWTS cast members, including Vanilla Ice and Calvin Johnson, rallied behind Lochte in support.

Will Lochte stay on DWTS? We just have to watch to find out! But we can’t wait to see what other drama Lochte unfolds this season on Dancing With the Stars.

Dancing With The Stars airs on Monday nights on ABC.
