The Bucket List of a Senior at App State

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

Most college students approach their senior year terrified and confused about how in the world they got here and what to do next. The real world is just a short eight months away and there is no amount of denial that will stop it from coming. You can’t decide to skip real life because you have a hangover from Thursday night that could be comparable to the black plague. And unfortunately it’s frowned upon to show up to a real life job in yoga pants, a t-shirt, and bed head. The only logical response to this predicament is to live with “No Ragrats” and make the most of the final round. The best way to make the most of this last hurrah is as follows:

1. Actually make an appearance at an App State Football Game

Most of us are too excited about getting the perfect tailgate outfit, drinking, then going to the bars to actually go to the football game. These games are fun and FREE. If it’s fo’ free its fo’ me right? So show some ‘Neer pride and go to the game, at least once.

2. Week Long Bar Crawl

One of the amazing things that Boone offers is having bar specials every day of the week.  Essentially, this gives you an excuse to treat yosef during the week. To name a few, there are $2 drafts at The Local every Thursday, Gallileo’s offers karaoke on Fridays, and of course the $2 taco’s and $2 Coronas at tAPP Room on Wednesday.

3. Hike More Trails than Rough Ridge

By senior year, everyone has probably taken the signature picture posted up on rough ridge (guilty, pictured below). There are however, A LOT more trails in the Boone area that are challenging and also provide some Insta-good views. So you can get your work out on and keep your Instagram game strong by branching out onto other trails in the Boone area.

4.  Become More Involved

The real world is coming which means you gotta boost the resume in any way possible. So join a club, volunteer, or get a part time job. You will see another side of the Boone area this way and even make some friends in the process.

5. Stay in with Your Friends Sometimes

Living it up senior year doesn’t always have to mean getting hammered every night of the weekend, even though that may happen from time to time. Have a movie night with your friends, or go out on the parkway and watch the sunset. You and your gal pals might be living in all different cities next year, or across the country so take this time to spend time with them.

Unfortunately we will all eventually have to make our teary goodbyes to the mountains we love so much. Until that time, dance on the Klondike fireplace like no one is judging you, get lost on the parkway, tell your best friend you love them, and live with NO RAGRATS (well maybe a few to keep things interesting). Cheers to beers, ‘Neers, and senior year.
