What I Learned from Korean Dramas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Amherst chapter.

I will admit, though I listen to Korean pop music, I do not watch many dramas. Now, you’re most likely wondering: Jinkies! How could she learn anything from Korean dramas if she doesn’t really watch them? Well, I’m glad you asked, my dear reader. Since most K-dramas use the same formula, all I needed was two dramas to learn everything I needed about school and love. Without further ado, here are my K-Drama Life Lessons (KDLL).

KDLL # 1 It’s not dramatic if you’re not standing outside in the rain.

KDLL # 2 Don’t try to play it cool by rejecting help, when you clearly need it. It will comeback to bite you.

KDLL # 3 We secretly live for the softer kisses because they linger more than the rough Hollywood makeouts.

KDLL # 4 Bad luck happen to everyone. Live it, embrace it, move on.

KDLL # 5 Don’t be a peeping Tom (especially to the dorm next door), you never know what you will find.

KDLL # 6 THIS!

KDLL # 7 If that attractive person catches you in a towel. Stare seductively, he might fall in love.

KDLL # 8 Couple rings are actually cute. You maybe surprised at how much you like it.

KDLL # 9 If a guy doesn’t get consent, take matters into your own hands!

KDLL # 10 BE YOURSELF! (even when you’re supposed to be something else…)
