What Beatles Song Matches Your Mood?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

The world is filled with people who are different. Some like salty and some like sweet. Some prefer summer and some prefer winter. Some cheered for Duke and some cheered for Wisco (too soon?) Within this world of different interests and different beliefs and different cultures which bring us apart, one constant prevails that melds us back together, and that is the fact that everyone loves The Beatles. Now, I’m not sure if I’m qualified to make such a statement, considering I’ve conducted zero studies on the matter, but as a current student in Bio-100, and therefore an expert in the field of science, I present, with full confidence of it’s validity, the hypothesis that if one listens to The Beatles, then one will enjoy what is listened to. **pushes glasses up nose.** The thing is, is because The Beatles went through so many musical shifts, there is so much diversity within each album, and that is why The Beatles are perfect to listen to anytime, anywhere.

And so, here is a list of what Beatle’s song you should listen to, depending on what mood you’re in, because no matter what you’re feeling, there’s a Beatle’s song that will speak to you.

A Goofy Mood: “You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)”

If you’re feeling silly and weird and kind of giddy, this is the song for you.

A Depressed Mood: “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”

Just break up with you’re significant other? Just found out you didn’t get the job? Sometimes you just need to wallow, and this tune will help you get started.

A Discouraged Mood: “Let It Be”

You don’t believe in yourself? You think you can’t take on these six essays all due tomorrow? All you need is a little inspiration to get you amped. It will fill your heart with hope, and it’s definitely a toe-tapper.

An Ambitious Mood: “Money (That’s What I Want)”

Resumes, CVs, and applications got you down in the dumps? Just use this swingin’ jam to remind yourself that if you work hard enough, you too can have bottomless Louboutins, with a shot of David Yurman and a garnish of Chanel.  I’d drink to that.

A Desperate Mood: “Can’t Buy Me Love”

Maybe money can buy happiness (ehem, see above) but it can’t buy love. If you’re freaking out about finding a formal date, remind yourself as you sway to this classic that there’s someone out there for you, and you’ll find him by just being you.

A Hostile Mood: “We Can Work It Out”

When you find yourself in a big fight with the bestie, or a heated political argument with that twit who thinks he knows everything because he follows Anderson Cooper on twitter, listen to this rendition. It only leads to kissing and making up.

A Stressed Out Mood: “Help!”

If you’re so stressed that your starting to bald and an elbow to the back wont suffice for the knots in your muscles, then take a breath and turn up the volume. It’s okay if your stressed, you can’t do it all, and sometimes you should just swallow your pride and ask for help!

A Party Mood: “Twist and Shout”

It’s not an original Beatle’s song, but let’s ignore that for a moment. If you’re getting pumped for a fun night out with the BBFAEAEs, make like a pretzel and twist to this.

A Couple-y Mood: “I Want To Hold Your Hand”

If you’re one of those lucky ducks who found your swan, than you should celebrate with this ballad. Congratulations! You found someone that gives you a reason to wake up in the morning, and the only thing you need from him or her is a hand to hold to make your day. #Love #YourFriendsSecretlyResentYou

A Chill Mood: “Imagine”

Laying in bed relaxing on your own, lazily couching it with the homies, or strolling on a walk with the dog. If you have a moment of bliss and relaxation, there’s no other Beatle’s song to compliment your calmness.

So tune into your emotions while tunning into the greatest band of all time.
