Five Surprisingly Good Songs From “Bangerz”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

There’s no denying that Miley Cyrus has been making headlines quit a lot lately. With her performance at the VMA’s, latest music videos and complete change in her image, she’s been constantly in the spotlight. Now with her new album, Miley is as big as ever. Everyone’s heard her single “We Can’t Stop” and even watched her scandalous music video for “Wrecking Ball”. These two songs have stood out the most on “Bangerz”, but there are five other songs that are surprisingly good. Take a listen!

“Adore You”

This is a nice change of pace from her upbeat songs. The chorus is super catchy and she sounds great. This song deserves more recognition! Unfortunately, this song hasn’t done too well in the album reviews, but the fans can decide.

“Drive”

This could definitely be a song you’d jam out to in the car. It’s different from Miley’s usual sound which makes it worth listening to. She certainly has changed her image.

“On My Own”

This one’s a bonus track on the deluxe version of the album. Her voice sounds amazing in this one! This is also a great workout song. Nothing like a good jam about feminine power and independence. You go girl!

“Someone Else”

Another catchy tune! Easily on of the best on the entire album and probably the best song to end the album.

“4×4”

This song slightly resembles “Hoedown Throwdown”. Maybe Miley’s turning back to her Hannah Montana days? This song has a fun and catchy beat. Miley gives this song a country vibe while still staying true to pop and it definitely makes you wanna get up and dance.

The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 according to Nielsen SoundScan, not surprising many people. Selling 270,000 copies in the first week, it performed better than her last album “Can’t be Tamed” according to Huffington Post. Here are some fan reviews of their favorite songs.

“Bangerz” is Miley’s fourth studio album. If you listen to the whole album, you can tell she’s changed up her sound in a lot of songs, such as the ones featuring Ludacris or Big Sean. There’s a lot more rapping in this album from featuring artists and Miley herself. She’s out to prove that she’s not the same Disney girl she once was. Overall it’s a bit all over the place, with some strange songs thrown in the mix, but whether you love her or hate her, you have to admit these five songs are pretty good! The album gets better the more you listen to it!
