Having beautiful skin sometimes feels like it’s absolutely impossible. Our skin gets dry, flaky, or even just looks dull. But fortunately, solving these problems is a lot easier than you may think. And a lot cheaper, too.

Drink lots of water.

It seems obvious, but drinking water is very important but is often forgotten, or put on the backburner of skincare priorities. Hydration is extremely important to keep your skin, you know, hydrated. Aim for the ever-recommended eight cups a day.

Eat your veggies.

There’s a reason your parents always wanted you to eat your vegetables, and it turns out that there are a lot more benefits to eating fresh fruits and veggies than just your internal health. A lot of fresh fruits and veggies also contain a lot of water (see above).

It’s really very simple. The skin is the largest organ of your entire body, so it makes sense that what you put inside of it is going to affect how it looks. Have you ever eaten a ton of greasy foods after downing more vodka tonics than you planned, only to find your skin looking terrible the next day? Keep hydrated and keep munching on those baby carrots.

Moisturize religiously.

Never skip out on your moisturizer. Wash your face and moisturize right after getting out of the shower when your pores are open and ready to absorb all of that moisture. Also consider doing an overnight face mask once a week, which is best to use after a weekend of going out and subsequently skipping out on much needed hydration– and wake up glowing

Exfoliate.

Exfoliating is imporant to do in moderation. While it might be tempting to exfoliate your skin every day to leave it feeling soft and smelling great, there is such a thing as over-exfoliation, which means you could be rubbing your skin raw.

Homemade exfoliators are an inexpensive and easy way to get that gorgeous, soft skin effectively without breaking the bank. Mix two parts sugar or salt and one part olive or coconut oil in a bowl. Rub gently in a circular motion over the face and lips. You can also check out some more recipes for homemade exfoliators to switch it up and add some sweet variety to your beauty routine.

Don’t fear oils.

A lot of people stay away from putting any kind of oil on their face because most people equate using oils with oily skin. In reality, oils can be an amazing way to keep your skin soft, moisturzed, and minimize any wrinkles.

Coconut oil smells and feels great, but is a little bit heavier. You might want to use it at night instead of in the morning, that way you aren’t waiting for it to sink it so that you can get your makeup on and get out the door. Argan oil, on the other hand, is lighter and absorbs much quicker (although still takes longer than your typical cream moisturizer), making it good for morning and night. You may even want to check out a face oil.

Now, get out there and achieve the skin of your dreams and wake up looking like Sleeping Beauty.
