What to Do Over the Summer as a Homebody

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Agnes Scott chapter.

As a self-identified homebody, it’s hard for me to want to leave my house over the summer. I can go an entire week without stepping outside and I would be totally fine. The problem is, even though I feel cozy, I’m bored. Here is a list of things you can do as a person who loves to stay at home but doesn’t want to be bored.

You could vlog. Vlogging doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be doing something crazy like going to an amusement park. I know a lot of people that just set their camera on a few books on their bed, and talk about whatever they want to talk about. Not only can it be a good stress reliever, but it will allow you to document your summer experience and how you felt during that time.

Buy a disposable camera, which is a little more than $10, and immerse yourself in a world all your own. Again, you don’t have to be doing something traditionally fun to document it! Take pictures of yourself, your room, your family, or close ups of your book collection.

Write a story. Write a long story with 40 chapters or write a short story that isn’t quite a page long. Using your imagination when you’re at home is just as good as doing an activity outside!

Do a thrifted transformation. April, coolirpa on Youtube, goes out to thrift stores and finds materials she likes or clothes that are a bit too big. Then she returns home and transforms them into something new! She has a sewing machine, so on the off chance that you own one, this would be a great idea for you to try! If you don’t, use her as inspiration and create something new with just scissors and hand sewing. This is great for having cute new clothes for next school year!
