Yale Offers Class About Nightlife in New York City

HC has rounded up some of the nation’s coolest college classes before, but Yale is offering a new course that takes innovative learning to a whole new level.

Dance Music and Nightlife Culture in New York City” aims to cover the aspects of the New York City social scene.

Professor Madison Moore crafted a syllabus that is sure to be the envy of every undergraduate who isn’t clubbing for credit. Topics covered in this course range from “The Birth of the Mega Club” to “Getting Past the Velvet Rope”. Guest lectures will feature prominent DJs and students will be taking field trips to the most exclusive clubs in New York, like the Boom Boom Room.

Professor Moore told The Post : “ It’s not just about getting drunk. It’s about the history of it, the Harlem cabarets, understanding race, gender, sex, Prohibition and the law… I always describe Yale as being pretty traditional on one hand, but pretty progressive on the other.”
