West Virginia Frat Suspended Over Reality TV Audition Tape

Delta Tau Delta at West Virginia University was suspended after posting a sexist and NSFW audition tape for MTV’s Real World, Cosmopolitan reports. The video has since been deleted.

MTV held an open casting for the show at WVU last month, the Charleston-Gazette Mail reports, after which fraternity member Stephen Budkey posted a video of himself walking around the Delta Tau Delta house at WVU, explaining his life in the frat. In a clip of the video posted by the Daily Mail, Bukdey talks about “where the magic happens,” which for him is apparently “behind a dumpster.” He goes on to mention that he has “bitches” who clean his room in the frat house.

The fraternity has been suspended indefinitely for the video that was posted to Budkey’s personal YouTube account, the Daily Mail reports. The full video includes references to parties and events not endorsed by the university and which violate the school’s Interfraternity Council (the governing body for all university fraternities) regulations, Cosmopolitan reports.

Delta Tau Delta’s suspension comes after almost 1,000 members of Greek life at WVU volunteered in the communty last week, according to the Charleston-Gazette Mail.

“That is certainly more indicative of what Greek life is about,” Roy Baker, associate dean of students and director of Greek life at WVU told the Charleston-Gazette Mail.

Budkey told the Daily Mail that he’s sorry, and that he was just trying to play the part of an outrageous reality TV star.

“This was an over exaggeration of my personality, in order to stand out among other candidates. I was under the impression that my crude behavior and language was what casting directors were in search of, so I played the part,” he said. “I realize my actions have reflected poorly on my own character, and the organizations I affiliate myself with. I only hope that my actions will be forgiven. In the future I will hold myself to the standards at which my peers, family, university and myself expect.”
