Malia Obama Receives Racist Hate After College Decision

Just like any other high school senior, Malia Obama, President Obama’s oldest daughter, had to make a tough decision last week about which school she is going to attend, and she picked a good one: Harvard University.  It was also announced that she will be taking a gap year, which is normal for a good percentage of students graduating from high school, before heading to her new school in the fall of 2017.

But after the news was announced on the Fox News website, Malia’s choice was anything but supported, according to The Grio on AOL News. Exhibit A (be warned, these comments are incredibly racist and upsetting):

Basically, commenters called her every awful slur in the book, and she is only 17 years old. Disgusting. The Grio also reports that Fox News has since disabled comments on the news article due to the amount of racist slurs and hate that Malia was getting, but it didn’t stop the images and comments from circulating around.

Regardless of the many terrible, racist people on the internet, WE are proud of Malia and are so excited to see what sort of adventures she has during her gap year!
