Winners of The Voice, DWTS, American Idol & Survivor

This week of television was jam-packed with finales of our favorite reality show competitions. Some of the results were more shocking than others, but all the contestants sang, danced, and competed to the best of their abilities. Here’s the scoop on this season’s winners.

NBC’s The Voice is one of the most popular singing competitions on television. Jake Worthington, Josh Kaufman, and Christina Grimmie sang their hearts out during the last performance, but it was up to the fans to chose a winner. Grimmie’s growing fan base took to Twitter to get votes, but it was Josh Kaufman who was named season six’s “The Voice.” Usher could not be happier, as he is the first coach to break the winning streak of Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, according to  E! Online. Many fans were shocked that Christina Grimmie didn’t take home the title, but don’t panic: Levine has offered her a recording contract with his label. You can catch Josh, Jake, and Christina on “The Voice Tour” this summer.

Dancing With The Stars had another fantastic season with big names including Candace Cameron Bure, Cody Simpson, and Drew Carey in the cast. But it was Olympic ice-dancer Meryl Davis and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy who took home the trophy. This was also Maksim’s first time being pronounced winner since the start of the show says CNN. Their intense chemistry and passion paid off, as they were a fan-favorite from the start. It’s been a big year for Meryl Davis, who also won a gold medal in the 2014 Winter Olympics. With these major accomplishments, we are eager to see what’s next for Meryl Davis.

Last night the season thirteen winner of American Idol was revealed. The two finalists, Caleb Johnson and Jena Irene Asciutto put on amazing final performances during Tuesday night’s show. Idol fans chose 23-year-old North Carolina native Caleb Johnson to be their new American Idol. Ironically, Johnson had been cut not once, but twice during the first round of tryouts the past two years, reports USA Today. Throughout the season Jena has also proved she’s got major pipes, and we can’t wait for her music career to take off as well. Not only was the finale exciting, but entertaining too. Musical guests included Demi Lovato, Paramore, Jason Mraz, John Legend, alumni Phillip Phillips, and Idol’s own Jennifer Lopez.

Survivor also passed the torch to the newest champion last night. Season 28 took place in Cagayan, and was filled with drama as promised. According to CBS this season took on the task of testing whether or not there are specific qualities that help someone succeed in the game and contestants were grouped in either Beauty, Brawns or Brain. The finalists were Spencer Bledsoe, Woo Hwang, Kass McQuillen and Tony Vlachos. The million-dollar prize went to Tony Vlachos, who beat out Woo Hwang with a vote of 8 to 1.
