11 Struggles Only Nerdy Girls Will Understand

There are a lot of perks that come with being a nerdy girl. You’re super smart. You can hold your own with the guys. And you’re about as low maintenance as possible. But being a nerd is not without its hardships. Below are 11 struggles that nerdy girls know all too well.

1. When you take off your glasses, you’re equally as attractive as you were before.

…and you can’t see.

2. People think you’re wearing comic book shirts to be ironic.

You just obviously love Iron Man’s insanely charming wit.

3. You make references that mainstream folks don’t understand.

Obsessing over cult finds is kind of your jam.

4. There’s never enough room for all your books.

And don’t even bother suggesting you get rid of them.

5. Your friends associate video games with immature frat guys they dated freshman year.

Killing zombies is a great stress reliever, okay?

6. No matter the cost, you always have to buy the newest iPhone. Like, the day it comes out.

Did you sacrifice eating out for a month? Yes. Was it worth it? You think so.

7. Movie adaptations don’t quite do it for you.

And you find yourself saying, “You didn’t read the books first?” A LOT.

8. Your social awkwardness detrimentally impairs your so-called love life.

But you’re fine with it. You’re currently dating several fictional characters.

9. It’s your absolute duty to defend your fandom.

Ron + Hermione 4 EVER!

10. You’re constantly looking for a feminist role model in the male-dominated nerd culture.

Let’s get one thing straight: we’re not all damsels in distress.

11. You regularly fall into the never-ending abyss that is fan fiction.

Some people really shouldn’t be allowed to publish things on the Internet.
