Lose the Freshman 15: Wait a sec, this meal plan doesn’t have a vodka section…

Okay, okay. It’s not as easy anymore.  The sizzler showed me exactly how out of shape I am and today my thighs felt like dead weight when I was on the elliptical. I thought my cardio session would never end. But! I pushed through my work out and ate healthy all day, so I’m feeling pretty good. There’s only one problem: I’m going out tonight.

Everyone knows that one of the main reasons people gain the frosh 15 is because of alcohol intake, and I’m sorry, but I’m not willing to give up all alcohol for the next 10 weeks. I don’t go out very often anyway since I’m so busy, but I do enjoy hitting up the Champaign bar scene every once in a while. The cheapest of cheap alcohol served in plastic cups? Doesn’t get any better.

So, how do I go out without totally wrecking my healthy day? I looked for alcoholic beverages in Jillian’s meal plan and didn’t find any. After searching the SELF website for low-calorie drinks it looks like vodka water limes are the way to go. I’m a vodka girl (shout out Chelsea Handler) and according to the SELF Jump Start Diet food log, one shot (1.5 oz) of vodka is about 114.67 calories. Ouch. And since most bartenders will pour more than one shot of vodka in every drink, we’re looking at upwards of 200 calories per cocktail. I don’t want to add any more unnecessary calories to my diet, so water and a little lime juice is about the best I can do aside from drinking straight vodka — and I’m just not cool enough to do that.

So until I find a low-calorie vodka, I think my plan will be to limit alcohol intake overall and cut chasers — aside from water and lime juice — out all together. If anyone has a better plan, tweet it at me! @SamGetsHealthy

Swearing off drunk food,

Samantha
