Lose the Freshman 15: Feeling good and looking good

Shopping.

It’s either a success or a complete fail. And a lot of it depends on how you feel about yourself that day.

My sorority’s formal is this weekend, and I needed to find a last-minute dress. So it was off to the mall with my fingers crossed I would find something to wear.

It was time to power shop. I told myself before I left that I had one hour to find a dress, and I am very picky.

But I was determined and confident in my ability to power shop. I felt good about myself.

It’s when you shop for clothes you really notice whether your exercise and diet is paying off. It feels great when you try on clothes and really feel like you look good in them.

And today, I felt like my Sunday long runs, hours dedicated in the gym and healthy eating were worth it.

I found my formal dress in the first store I walked into, Forever 21.

And I believe shopping success is directly related to your attitude. I walked into the mall confident. I felt good about my body and believed the clothes I was trying on looked good on me. Of course, it helps to have a friend’s supportive opinion, and I did.

If you go into a shopping spree feeling bad about yourself, you won’t feel good in the clothes you are trying on. So next time you walk into a store, walk in with confidence. You’ve been working hard these past few weeks and eating well. Your hard work is paying off, and you will notice it when you shop.

Reward yourself for your hard work this week and treat yourself to a new top to wear this weekend. You deserve it.
