Lose the Freshman 15: Birthday Cake Temptation

A billion years ago today, something very special happened: my mother was born. With three days of birthday festivities with family and her friends, I can tell you there are three different type of birthday cakes tucked away in plastic containers in our fridge. 1337793 67309239

Remember, I have a problem with overcoming my sweet tooth, and am just getting used to having sweets in moderation. Not just one type of cake for me to deal with-… three! Three different sizes, flavors and reasons for me to cave each time I’m tempted by their yummy exteriors when I open those stainless steel doors.

Lucky for me, the Jump Start Diet doesn’t cut out dessert all together by including a 200 calorie dessert.

Though I realize that having a slice of cake three days in a row would do absolutely nothing for the progress I’ve made so far, but allowed myself one slice for today only. healthy food fridge

Keeping in mind how close I am to losing the freshman 15, I decided to move those three containers full of temptation towards the back of the fridge behind fruits, vegetables and yogurt. A recent study in SELF found that having visibly stored healthy items on the middle shelf will help dieters lose at least a pound each month!
