The ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 6 Trailer Is Taking Everyone To The Max & Things Get Intense

The ladies of Litchfield are back—and it looks like they’re in more trouble than ever before.

The trailer for the newest season of Netflix’s original series Orange Is the New Black finds our favorite inmates moved to Litchfield’s maximum security prison after last season’s prison riot. But it looks like only a select few have been transferred. “Don’t you think it’s weird that we’re the only people in here?” Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) asks.

The fullness of the cast isn’t the only thing that’s changed with the move to maximum security. The ladies are thrust into completely new social circles and rivalries, as the women with navy uniforms have beef with women in khaki uniforms. “Navigating adult female friendships is so hard,” remarks Suzanne aka “Crazy Eyes” (Uzo Aduba).

Looks like season 6, more than ever before, is about the inmates fighting to maintain their self-identity and humanity despite the conditions of prison. “You have no idea how strong my girls are,” Red (Kate Mulgrew), the former prison chef, says. “We have iron wills and f—ing nothing to lose.”

Orange Is the New Black, based on Piper Kerman’s memoir Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison, has been one of Netflix’s most popular original series. OITNB has been notable for its portrayal of LGBTQ women and women of color, and I’m sure we’ll see more hilarity and honesty out of its characters this season.

Season six premieres Friday, July 27 on Netflix, and I can’t wait for OITNB to become my summer binge-watching show once again. Check out the trailer below.

She hails from Manito, a rural wasteland in Illinois so small and devoid of life that she took up writing to amuse herself. Kait goes to Butler University to prepare for a career in advertising, but all she really wants to do is talk about TV for a living. You can find her at any given moment with her earbuds in pretending to do homework but actually looking at surrealist memes.
