Liam Payne Didn’t Hold Back Any Shade When Asked About Harry Styles’ Music

“Throwing shade” is a phrase we tend to throw around lightly, but it may be too on the nose in this instance. In an interview with Music Choice, Liam Payne was asked his ~thoughts~ about Harry Styles’ solo debut, and he was brutally honest. Although the clip is just under a minute long, let’s just say tea was served and some was spilt in the process.

The new father doesn’t seem that impressed with Harry’s music. “Harry’s song I heard, and I’ll be honest with you, it’s not my sort of music. It’s not something I’d listen to,” Liam said of “Sign of the Times.” This is prime shade.

To be fair, the former bandmates have each experimented with different genres in their solo careers. It’s possible that Liam just isn’t a fan of Harry’s sound.

Fortunately, the singer also applauded Harry for completing his debut album and experiencing the success he has. “But I think he did a great job of doing what he wanted to do,” Payne said. “That’s the way I’d put it best, I think.”

Liam may have taken the saying “tell us how you really feel” too literally, but we still appreciate his honesty. I guess it’s too soon to suggest a duet.
