The 5 iPhone Apps You Must Have For 2011

I spent a serious amount of time with my iPhone, about 19 hours worth, on a train from NYC to Chicago yesterday. During this time, I realized I take my iPhone for granted because there are some really cool and necessary apps for collegiettes™ these days. So, after long hours of browsing through the entire iPhone app store, here are my top picks that you should download on your iPhone to kick off 2011.

1. The Bad Decision Blocker
This app hides a friend’s contact information for an hour up to one week. This is great to help you stop contacting an ex-boyfriend or simply resist the temptation of reaching out to a new one!  And once you’ve put a number on lockdown, it can’t be reversed until the time is up. (Unfortunately it doesn’t erase your memory, so this only works if you don’t know the number by heart).

Price: $0.99

2. Amazon Kindle
In times when you are in the dark and can’t read off of your kindle, download this app to continue reading your book from your lighted iPhone. Don’t own a kindle? You should still download the app to receive those great discounted kindle prices on Amazon books.

Price: Free

3. Ask a Stylist
Powered by Glamour magazine, this iPhone app allows you to ask fashion advice from professional stylists. All you have to do is take a photo of yourself in the outfit at question, choose a stylist, and submit your question. A stylist will reply within a half hour with her suggestions. You can also ask for advice if you are feeling conflicted between two separate outfits!

4. Fake-a-call
The best way to escape a bad date or any awkward situation— make your phone ring on demand with this app rather than having a friend do it. You can also select from nine different voices and scripts so you don’t have to worry about improvising.

Price: $0.99

5. Cram
Okay, this one is a little pricey— but it’s an Apple staff favorite. Basically it helps you study for tests, such as the GRE, an exam for class, or just to brush-up on your basic American history skills (so you can win those Wii Jeopardy games). It quizzes you with multiple-choice questions, gives you the correct answers at the end, and tracks your progress when you retake the test.

Price: $3.99
