Stars… they’re just like us! Even though you would never guess that Kendall Jenner had fallen prey to some of the early 2000s trends that still haunt many of us to this day, she’s the first to admit that she did. Although she was in the public eye while filming Keeping Up With The Kardashians as a child, and had the influence of her three fashionable older sisters (although the jury is still out on how fashionable the trio really were during that time), Kendall still fell victim to the worst ’00s trend of them all: over-plucked eyebrows. The Victoria’s Secret model goes so far as to call her sparse brows her “biggest beauty regret.”
Looking at Kendall now though, you would never be able to guess that she too had an unfortunate eyebrow past. Kendall recently shared on her app how she craftily covers up her past mistakes and creates her flawless, jealousy-inducing arch.
Her makeup artist, Mary Phillips, who has also worked with celebs like Chrissy Teigen, Jennifer Lopez, Bella Hadid, and, naturally, some of the other Kardashian sisters, explained how Kendall’s brows stay flawless all day. The first step is to contour (as if contouring your face wasn’t enough work!): “You want to create dimension in your brows, just as you do with the skin, eyes and lips. Think of using a few different shades in the brow area as your ‘brow contour.’ It’s how you get those lush off-duty model brows.” Don’t worry, this isn’t as complicated as it sounds. Start by using a lighter color towards the start of your brow (the part closest to the inner corner of your eye) and subtly blend that colour into a darker shade, sot that your brow is the darkest at the arch. Mary finishes the look by “flicking” the brow hairs, explaining that “Lush brows with soft edges are much more pleasing to the eye.” To do this, you can either use your fingers (they’re free!), or, if the idea of using your fingers to finish applying makeup grosses you out, you can use a spoolie brush, like this $1.99 one from Morphe Brushes, to get the same results.
