What’s In My Shower Caddy: Beauty Blogger Rachel

When I was preparing for college last summer, I had no idea how I was going to fit everything in my mom’s minivan, let alone all my products in a shower caddy. However, after a year of college and coming back again this year, I’ve learned that all a shower caddy really needs to be stocked with are the basics—I leave my hair products and makeup in my room. I’ll show you how to keep it simple and effective with my seven shower essentials.

Shampoo

Shampoo is a key shower essential. I love Organix Rejuvenating Cherry Blossom Ginseng Shampoo ($7.99 at Target) because not only is it all-natural, but it also hydrates my curly hair. Organix has a ton of different shampoos and conditioners to choose from, so I like to switch it up every couple of weeks.

Body Wash (and pouf)

I like using body wash more than soap because of its smooth texture and scent variety. Dove Go Fresh Nutrium Moisture Body Wash ($5.47 at Walmart) has a ton of scents and a great moisturizing formula. I like the Pomegranate and Lemon Verbena scent. Rather than using my hands or a washcloth, I like using poufs because they provide exfoliation, an easy lather, and accessibility in the shower (they also dry faster!).

Shaving Cream

Shaving cream is a must-have to provide moisture and avoid knicks (ouch!). I love Skintimate Moisturizing Shave Gel in Raspberry Rain ($2.97 at Walmart). Its smooth formula and yummy scents are perfect for an easy and quick shave.

Razor

A good razor is also vital in ensuring a problem-free shave. I like using disposable razors because as soon as they start to get dull, you just toss them and grab a new one—so easy! I’ve found that BIC Simply Soleil Razors ($7.99 on drugstore.com) provide a close shave and last longer than most other razors do. Pick them up at any local pharmacy or drug store.

Conditioner

Conditioner could very well be my most important shower product. With curly hair, you need a thick, moisturizing conditioner that will untangle your hair while smoothing it out. For this reason I use Organix Rejuvenating Cherry Blossom Ginseng Conditioner ($7.99 at Target).  As I said earlier, I love Organix’s natural formula and scent variety. I’m not steering you wrong with this product!

Face Wash

Face wash is an important shower essential that you just can’t glaze over. Water alone is not enough to clean the dirt and bacteria that gathers on your face throughout the day, which is why I usually choose to wash my face in the shower. I love Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser ($6.45 at Target) because it cleans my face while preventing breakouts at the same time (two-in-ones are the best!). Its gentle formula clears your pores while still preventing acne and providing moisture; what could be better?

Toothbrush and Toothpaste

I keep my toothbrush and toothpaste in my shower caddy so I can easily access them in the morning or before going out. I like a gentle, manual toothbrush and whitening toothpaste for clean, healthy teeth. Get brushing, collegiettes!

These products fit right into my Vera Bradley Shower Caddy ($35 on verabradley.com), which is cute and easy to carry. Showering has never been so stylish! With these seven essentials and an adorable bag, you’ll be set for whatever dorm showers try to throw your way…just don’t forget your flip-flops!
