It’s a new season, which means it is time to try out some new hair trends. The starlets of Hollywood are flaunting some enviable looks this season that collegiettes can test drive too. There is something for every lady – from those willing to invest an hour into doing their hair to those looking to invest two minutes (maybe). Explore the looks to get some inspiration for your new summer style.

1. Side swept

Fashionistas everywhere are rocking the mod side swept look in multiple variations. For a simply version part hair deep to one side. Brush hair over and apply holding spray to ensure it stays. For a more slicked look apply a pomade or light-hold gel before brushing over.

2. Fishtail braid

Simple and adorable, the fishtail side braid is the quintessential carefree summer style, so gather your hair to the side and braid away!

3. All tied up with a head scarf or turban

For girls limited on time a head scarf or turban is a classic look that can be achieved quickly. Stock up on fun and poppy colors and prints for a chic look.

4. Pinned back beach waves

To achieve fresh beach waves like these part hair in the middle and scrunch hair with mousse. Then take two small sections, one from each side of your head, twist it back and secure it with a bobby pin. Got straight hair? Braid damp hair before going to bed and unbraid it in the morning for some effortless kinked waves.

5. Next day curls

This look is perfect for collegiettes with a blowout…. from yesterday. Don’t let you’re your straightened tresses go to waste, instead divide hair into large sections and wrap around a double-barrel iron.  Spray with holding spray after to maintain the look all day.

6. Knotted chignon

The knotted chignon is modern and elegant. Dazzle other with this ladylike style by beginning with dry straightened hair. Pull hair into a low ponytail and secure with a hair elastic. Divide ponytail into two or more sections. Twist each section until coiled, then secure at base of bun with bobby pins. Collegiettes may want to use a light holding gel or pomade to keep hair in place.

7. Milkmaid braids

If your hair is in a funk milkmaid braids are an easy and chic solution. To get the look (with less effort) middle part your hair and form two pigtails at the top of each side of your scalp. Secure both with an elastic band. Braid each pigtail and secure with another elastic. Finally twist each one around the front of your scalp and secure each one with bobby pins.

8. Top Knot

This trendy look does not want to go away! For a polished look slick back hair into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic band. Twist ponytail in a clockwise direction until it forms a coiled bun, and secure hair to scalp with bobby pins. Collegiettes can also try out Bored With Your Hair Top Knot Kit to achieve this look and to add extra volume to your bun. For a more “messy-bun” look, flip over hair by bending forward and grasping what would be a ponytail in your hand. Instead of forming a ponytail do not pull hair all the way through, and secure a loop of hair instead. Twist the remainder of hair around this loop and secure with the rest of your elastic band.

9. Go Au Naturale

Summer is the best excuse to do absolutely nothing! So own whatever hair you may have. We adore Brit Marling and her naturally wavy tresses.

10. Preppy ponytail

Though this is a classic hairstyle good for anytime of the year, the ponytail lends itself well to the summer season with its playful nature. Dress it up by slicking it back with a dallop of styling cream (try Fekkai Advanced Brilliant Glossing Cream) and securing at top of head. Then grab a small section of hair and wrap around the elastic. Secure the end of this section under your ponytail with a pin.
