We are all familiar with the movie Mean Girls; in fact most of us have seen it multiple times. Though the movie is a classic of our generation, lets face it; we do not want to fall victim to girls like Regina George. Yet, the latest U.S. Department of Justice report shows 30% of female students grades 6 – 12 were bullied at school or cyber bullied during the 2009 – 2010 school year. Though it makes for a pretty entertaining movie, no one wants this to happen off the movie theater screen!
The well-known deodorant brand Secret is taking a stand against this girl-on-girl cattiness with the Mean Stinks campaign. The campaign’s mission is to help bring an end to girl-to-girl bullying by inspiring girls to “gang up” around acts of good. Secret created a brand new product that will support the campaign, the Mean Stinks Clinical Strength deodorant. $1 of every Mean Stinks Clinical Strength product purchased will be donated to Girls on the Run to promote female empowerment. Collegiettes can also visit the new Secret Mean Stinks Facebook experience to determine what role they can play in ending bullying, learn how to identify bullies, to take a drama-free pledge, and more.
This gives collegiettes a chance to feel good about a product that they buy often, deodorant! At the same time trying to change something that really stinks (not to mention the product works well too!).
