Lose the Freshman 15: Staying Healthy with a Busy Schedule

Hey Collegiettes!

How are things going with the Drop 10 plan? For me things are going great! New Balance sent all the Freshman 15 bloggers some great workout gear in the mail and it was SOOO comfy to wear during my HIIT workout this morning. I’m actually starting to have a lot of fun with the interval training. The quick burst of cardio through out the workout makes the time fly by!

One thing that I am definitely still struggling with is staying healthy on such a busy schedule. This semester I am interning, taking 15 credits, and working two jobs on top of being the health and fitness editor for Her Campus Temple so free time isn’t exact in my schedule. That being said, sometimes it can be pretty difficult to find time to prepare a time consuming meal.

Before I would always just grab fast food on the go or go hours with out eating, only to binge at night, but that’s not going to fly anymore. I’ve learned that mapping out my meals ahead of time is a really easy way to manage my time better. By doing that I’ve learned what would be the easiest thing to prepare given my schedule for that day. On Mondays, for example, I intern and my office is right next to a Starbucks. This makes it suuuuuper easy to pick up the Self Drop 10 recommended Protein Bistro Box to have for lunch.

I also finish my classes for the day pretty early on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so I’ve decided that those will be the days that I try out some of the more time consuming recipes for dinner. So far I think the Smokey Paprika Chicken is my favorite!

Another great way that I’ve been managing my time throughout the week is by preparing my meals ahead of time. Self’s Salmon Salad is really easy to prepare the night before and take on the go the next day!

All of these tips have made managing a busy schedule a lot easier over the last week and I hope they will help you guys out as well! If you have any other tips let me know in the comments!

Once last thing before I head out tonight, The Freshman 15 Diet Bet starts the day after tomorrow and the pot has already sky rocketed to over $1,800. If you ladies are thinking about joining now is your chance! Think about it: as long as you lose 4% of your body weight in 4 weeks you’re guaranteed the split the pot. It’s a win-win.

That’s all I’ve got for you guys for now! Check back on Tuesday for my next update and to see how much I’ve lost during week one!
