Help Bring Education to Girls Everywhere & Score a Scholarship!

Service has never been so stylish. Fashion brand My Social Canvas is teaming up with nonprofit WomenOne for the first-ever #Design4HerEducation design contest, scholarship competition and awareness campaign.

My Social Canvas is a New York City-based fashion company that helps emerging designers break into the business by recruiting its customers, students and brand community to transform their blank products into design masterpieces. Seriously—all of the brand’s products start out as a blank canvas until a budding designer works his or her magic.

WomenOne is a nonprofit founded by supermodel and philanthropist Dayle Haddon that works to give girls everywhere equal access to education, in turn awarding them healthier and happier lives.

The theme for this year’s competition is “Educate a Girl and Change the World.” The student who creates the design that best exemplifies this inspiring message will receive a $1,000 scholarship and the chance to design a new collection. The best part: a portion of the proceeds from this collection goes towards girls’ education in the developing world.

The star-studded panel of judges features Marie Claire magazine Editor-in-Chief Anne Fulenwider, Project Runway producer Desiree Gruber, supermodel and Every Mother Counts founder Christy Turlington, Gossip Girl actress and women’s advocate Kelly Rutherford and supermodel and WomenOne founder Dayle Haddon.

Your contest checklist:

1. The deadline for designs is Sunday, March 29th by midnight EST.

2. Submit designs online!

3. Design requirements: Create a fashion-forward graphic design to sell on a t-shirt, tote bag, makeup bag and potentially other products that will launch this fall in major retailers raising funds for the nonprofit WomenOne. The student’s design inspiration, their name and University will be featured on the product when sold in retail or mentioned in fashion magazines or other areas of the media.

4. Apart from the $1,000 scholarship, the winner will receive exposure in major retailers, fashion magazines, blogs and to the high profile judge panel.
