STOMP Out Bullying™ & Bon-Ton Stores Team Up for Third Annual Blue Shirt Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

Bullying is a huge problem in schools across the nation. We all know someone or are someone who has been bullied, and that’s not a good feeling. You may have seen news circling around the web of the beautiful Kendall Jenner being bullied by her modeling peers over New York Fashion Week — so not cool! Bullying can lead to lower self-esteem, depression and even suicide. It is a big deal; anyone can be a victim of bullying and you can help prevent it, thanks to the organizations like STOMP Out Bullying

STOMP out Bullying™ is an organization dedicated to reducing and preventing bullying and cyber bullying in schools through educating the public and raising awareness. They are the top bullying and cyberbullying prevention organization for children and teens in the nation.

For the third year in a row, Bon-Ton, a department store based in York, Pennsylvania, is teaming up with STOMP Out Bullying™ for Blue Shirt Day™ World Day of Bullying Prevention. In lieu of National Bullying Prevention Month in October, Blue Shirt Day™ World Day of Bullying Prevention is held on the first Monday of every October. This year’s event is on Monday, October 6.

“It’s important to all of us at The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. to be leaders in our communities,” said Kathryn Bufano, President and CEO of The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. “One of the most important things we can do is to help provide safe environments for children of all ages and to prevent bullying. We encourage everyone to support Blue Shirt World Day of Bullying Prevention on Monday, October 6th.”

Celebrities like Chole Grace MortezRobin RobertsJames Marsden and more have all joined STOMP Out Bullying™ to help spread awareness. They each have videos telling stories of kids who have been bullied and ask viewers to join them in Blue Shirt Day™ World Day of Bullying Prevention.

You can support the cause by purchasing one of the $12 “Blue Shirts” sold exclusively at Bon-Ton stores on their website up until October 6. And get this — 100% of the proceeds go directly to STOMP Out Bullying! Pretty great, right? In addition to buying a shirt, from October 1 to October 31 you can also share an anti-bullying message from Bon-Ton’s Facebook page. Bon-Ton will donate $1 to STOMP Out Bullying for each message shared!

You can be a part of an important change in our society by joining the ‘sea of blue’ and stomping out bullying for good!
