5 Promises You Need to Keep

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

Love yourself,

Make sure you promise yourself to love yourself first and foremost. Make sure to not dwell on the past and keep your chin up. You are doing the best you possibly can. Don’t let things get to you down so quickly. You can do this!

Keep in touch,

Make sure you contact someone when you say you would. Whether it be a text, call or even a letter. It is important because it shows that you genuinely care and put in the effort in the friendship or relationship. Also, if you spontaneously call someone it could mean the world to that individual.

Appreciate life,

Not many people appreciate life with all it has to offer. I believe that a promise to live life to the fullest is an important thing to do because you end up experiencing the most and learning a ton. I’m not saying you should “YOLO” everything but you should try and live everyday as if it is your last.

Let go,

You should promise to let go of the ones in your live who are not worth your time. If someone is not treating you with the utmost kindness and respect you should consider letting them go because they may not be the best fit for your life. Don’t take the absence personally because people come and go all the time. People change.

Respect other’s opinions,

Remember that not everyone has the same opinion as you and it is important to respect different views. Who knows, you may find a new friend or a new side to a story!
