Let’s face it, we all experience those bouts of insecurity. Even the most successful, confident people in the world have their times in which they feel small. However, just because you’re not confident now does not mean that you have to stay that way. Here are some ways to become a more confident, amazing version of yourself.

Visualization

Studies have shown that repetition helps to create a belief over a period of time. This means that if you can picture yourself in your mind as being confident, over time your brain will be tricked into thinking that you truly are. If you’re having trouble with visualization, picture a time in your life in which you felt confident. While thinking of this moment, think over every single detail that you possibly can. Use this image whenever you need a confidence boost, such as before a speech or when you introduce yourself to new people.

Lower your Expectations

Sometimes, we’re just too hard on ourselves. Instead of beating yourself up over what you cannot change, move on and grow from it. It is not healthy to feel bad over something that you cannot change. It is also best to not compare yourself to the success of someone else. We all move at our own pace, and you will get to where you need to be in life when the time comes. Never feel like just because you have not completed x amount of goals that you’re not amazing. Instead, understand that your time will come, and to just go with the flow.

Switch up your Look

When I don’t look the way that I feel I should look, I usually feel less confident about myself. When I dyed my hair blonde, I felt like I was actually portraying myself as the person I imagined myself to be, which helped to increase my confidence drastically. If you are able to, I would recommend changing your hair color/style, buying new outfits, or even learning a new makeup technique. Not only are you helping yourself to look the way you want to, but you’re sure to feel good about yourself as well.

Ignore Outside Opinions

People sometimes always have to express their opinions, even if we don’t know them. However, no matter what you do or change about yourself, you will never please everybody. Something that you change today to fit someone’s opinion might make a person the next day upset. The only person that you have to live with and please is yourself. Instead of focusing on the opinions of other people, concentrate on improving the way you see yourself.

We cannot always control our emotions, but following these examples can help you to boost your confidence levels greatly. Next time you’re feeling low, remember that you are an amazing person who is destined to do great things and that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
