Spring semester may have just come upon us, but most of us can’t help but jump on so-close-but-yet-so-far spring break plans. Of course, when you think spring break, you think the hot blazing sun, the cool ocean, and margaritas on the beach with your squad. Although the beach is a very appealing destination for college students, there are dozens of alternative locations that you can book this upcoming spring break to mix it up — and for cheap, too

  1. Grand Canyon, Arizona

Why? The views are incredible, and staying there costs next to nothing. They are constantly having free entry park days and if you are any sort of level of outdoorsy, this is the spot for you. According to Arizona locals and various websites, March and April are the best times to visit the Grand Canyon, perfect timing for spring break dates!

2.Breckenridge, Colorado

Can’t seem to get away from the cold? Or maybe if you’re used to the warm weather year round, a nice ski town getaway might be perfect way to mix it up. Breckenridge is rated in the top 5 of the best resorts for college students. With lower priced hotels and condominiums, this resort is the best place to hit the slopes all day and eat some food, but also has the best après ski and nightlife downtown where you and your crew are bound to meet young college kids from all over the country — or even the world!

3. San Francisco, CA

Fun fact: San Francisco has been named the most interesting city in the United States (and the booziest). From the famous landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, to the downtown area of China Town, this city has a lot to offer. I think what sets aside San Francisco from the others is its beautiful and unique landscapes. Not only is it incredibly diverse but also you and your friends will not run of things to do with the city’s handful of landmarks.

4. Portland, Oregon

Want a perfect mix of city life and nature? Portland is the way to go. It has fabulous authentic restaurants, indie boutiques, and did I say nature? Literally amazing hikes and vineyards are just 15 minutes away from the epic city. Also, there is rain. Lots of rain. It is a great way to take a gorgeous expenditure into the “wild” and return downtown for a fabulous dinner and a night out.
