5 Reasons Why Being Single This Holiday Season Could be Good for You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

It’s cuffing season and you know what that means; a time for all the single folks out there to feel more well….single.  So maybe you don’t have a significant other to warm up to by the fireplace during the upcoming chilly months of winter, or currently you might be swiping away through your various dating apps trying to find that last minute date to your office holiday party. Or even worse, you may be 3rd wheeling, or even 5th wheeling , in practically any holiday-related event. Instead of looking at the negatives of being alone, these benefits are here to help you find some light in the situation this holiday season.

1. You can save money

Look at this as an opportunity to save money instead of spending it. Not only are significant others pricey, but think of how stressful it is to pick out the perfect gift(s) for boo. If anything, take that money you would’ve had to spend on someone else, go holiday shopping, and treat yourself!

2. You can choose the holiday plans

We know time off during the holidays, if any, is valuable, so this gives you the opportunity to play by your own rules and not have to worry about anyone else’s agenda. You don’t have to worry about splitting time between both of your families, and you can get rid of the stress of compromising holiday plans and activities.

3. You can focus on spending time with your family and friends or hey… even just yourself

This gives you the chance to spend your holiday free time with your non-significant-other loved ones because we know how hard it can be balancing all of those. Have a game night with la familia or take the squad out to hit the ice rink. If that doesn’t appeal to you, who says that you can’t cozy up in your PJ’s all day watching your favorite holiday rom coms by the fire with a glass of wine?

4.You don’t have to stick to one single person under that mistletoe

So what you came to your best friend Becky’s holiday party single? There’s plenty of single people just like you during the holiday season waiting to be cuffed, or even just out to have a fun guilt-free smooch under the mistletoe.

5. It can be a time for a fresh start

As cheesy as this one sounds, it can be the most important. This is the chance to go into the New Year focusing on you. So maybe you didn’t have the best luck in 2017 with your dating life, but 2018 is a new year with new opportunities and new people (maybe even a new bae). So go kick next year’s ass!
