6 Traits of Fall We Don’t Experience in Florida

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tampa chapter.

Tis the season for pumpkin spice, cooler nights, warmer clothes, and fall leaves. But wait, none of this happens in Florida as it is essentially summer up to the holidays!  Here are the real traits of fall that we know exist in other parts of the country that we truly miss right now!

1. Leafs changing

So this may not make sense unless you saw the movie Disney’s Brother Bear. Let me set the scene, two brothers who happen to be moose, are playing hide and seek. They go back and forth and all they say is “I spy something…. Green, Tree”. If this doesn’t explain Florida during the fall, I don’t know what does. Just green, EVERYWHERE!

2. Cute Fall Outfit

*Cries into every Pinterest board I have*

3. Apple and Pumpkin Picking

If I have to exert some sort of physical activity while reaching for these two things, I would prefer to not have massive sweat stains on my clothes while doing so, damn you heat. Damn you.

4. Apple Cider

I’ve never had it, but it’s associated with fall, so I’m putting it on the list.

5. Cold Temperatures

Look, I went to Syracuse in like October one year and it was thirty something degrees and it just felt right. Plus, I could wear my super cute coat around everywhere, so double the points for me.

6. Friday Night Football Games

Nothing screams fall like standing shoulder over shoulder with the people you walked across the stage with to keep warm watching your home team destroy your rival. I call the Florida alternative, “Haha, you all have to sweat together while I sit up in this press box and laugh in my air conditioning”.

Basically, I’m really salty that fall has started and I’m stuck here in the never ending summer heat of Florida, thanks for listening.

On her off days, you can most likely find her at Starbucks drinking her body weight in Iced White Chocolate Mochas.
Hi, I'm Chanel. I'm a Sophomore at the University of Tampa with a major in Public Health. I laugh at horror movies, don't understand romantic movies, and cry during documentaries. I am vegetarian, but I will make an exception for pepperoni pizza rolls because the plain cheese are just plan disgusting. I dream of owning a cuddly pet chicken and a tiny home. Hm... I also enjoy torturing myself by spending an hour and half in a 105 degree room to practice Bikram Yoga. That is all.
