17 Reasons Why St. Patrick’s Day is the Best Holiday

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tampa chapter.

Coming from a proud Irish girl like myself, March 17th always has been, and always will be the best day of the year. No matter how many of these reasons I personally agree with, I can guarantee every single one of you can find at least one reason on this list to deem St. Patrick’s Day the best holiday of all!

1)     It’s the only holiday where you have an excuse to go out drinking

2)     And while we’re at it you get to drink a lot…

3)     Including Guinness

4)     And Bailey’s

5)     And any beer you can get your hands on

6) You get to wear green

7)     And everyone looks good in green!

8)     Even when you’re not Irish you can still pretend like you are

9)     The classic dinner meal is meat and potatoes

10)And let’s be real, who doesn’t love potatoes??

11)Here in Tampa, they dye the river green

12)And even if it washes away before you get to see it, it’s the thought that counts

13)McDonalds starts selling their Shamrock Shakes

14)We’re all sure Station is about to throw down

15)The stupider you dress, the better

16)You can refer to different parts of your body as your “pot of gold” or “lucky charms”

17)And Finally, this year the fine holiday of St. Patrick’s day is on a Thursday!

Hi, I'm Chanel. I'm a Sophomore at the University of Tampa with a major in Public Health. I laugh at horror movies, don't understand romantic movies, and cry during documentaries. I am vegetarian, but I will make an exception for pepperoni pizza rolls because the plain cheese are just plan disgusting. I dream of owning a cuddly pet chicken and a tiny home. Hm... I also enjoy torturing myself by spending an hour and half in a 105 degree room to practice Bikram Yoga. That is all.
