We’ve made it to February and love is in the air once again. This brief but very romantic month brings so many people together to celebrate their relationships with their loved ones—be it a heartfelt relationship with a partner, a long-lasting friendship, a tender connection with a family member, or a warm feeling for a pet. Love is meant to be celebrated every day, but with Valentine’s Day, we might all just find ourselves in the same scenario: “What am I going to give to that special someone?” Worry not, as there are a variety of options to choose from. Here’s a gift guide to follow so you can hand in the perfect present this year!

Merchandise is your new best friend

Think about what interests that special someone. Are they super fans of some type of fiction? Remember, nowadays there’s themed merchandise of literally anything—including movies, TV shows, video games, and books! Ask yourself if your SO is into T-shirts, pins, patches, or headwear. Maybe they’re more into room décor. In that case, consider getting them posters or figurines. Do they follow an exercise routine? Then give them a drinkware of their favorite character. Are they tech enthusiasts? Consider giving them stickers, magnets, or tech accessories! There is so much merchandise out there that they’ll surely appreciate any gift related to their latest Netflix obsessions.

What they need

Is there something that your significant other needs? Try to recall if they have whined about something they might be missing. Perhaps a new phone cover, some shoes, a wallet, or even a pair of headphones. There is always something that would make your SO’s life easier somehow, and maybe they don’t even realize it. Surprise them with that type of thoughtful gift! They will surely appreciate your effort in helping them with their needs.

What they want

Contrary to what they need, think about something they have always wanted or just casually wanted at some point. This one might be a bit broad, but it can help to recall a window-shopping date you had with that someone. Was there anything that they pointed out? There is also online shopping, so maybe they showed you something they are interested via a screenshot. However, if you don’t recall any specific moment, you could still take that person out for a casual stroll around the mall and see if their eyes glimmer at something, and if they do, as soon as they leave, buy away!

When in doubt, stay classic

You can never ever go wrong with a box of chocolates, a cuddly stuffed animal and a bouquet of flowers—never. So, when in doubt, gift them the classics. However, you can make it more thoughtful or change it up a bit by customizing the gifts according to your loved one’s tastes. Is there a specific flower that your SO likes the most? What’s their favorite animal? What kind of chocolate do they prefer: dark, white, milk? If your partner is open to anything, then try to change up the classics a bit. Instead of roses, you can give them a rustic bouquet of flowers made up of lavender, lilies, and sunflowers; or instead of chocolates you might want to give them some home-baked cookies or brownies. Anything you can do to make that gift a little extra special and unique.

Be poetic

This one might not appeal to everyone, but if there’s something that will really fill that special someone’s heart, it’s to tell them how you feel about them. The best thing is that this can be done in so many ways! You can obviously write the traditional, classy and tender letter, but if you’re a bit shy with your writing, how about creating a video presentation of memorable times you had with one another? You can also let somebody else speak for you. Search up a poem you like and dedicate it to your partner—bonus points if you read it out loud to them.

Let your creative juices flow

Not everyone can draw, I know, but who says you need to have Da Vinci’s talents to create something tender and sweet? Your person will find your gift extra special if it was made with your bare hands. There are a bunch of DIY Valentine’s Day Gift Guide ideas that you can find on the internet. So, go ahead and get creative!

As you can see, there are plenty of options to choose from. Remember, your special someone will always appreciate any effort you do for them, as long as you put your heart into it. Stay lovely, get creative and happy shopping!
